Thomas V. Marino is a member of DBM’s litigation and arbitration practice group. He specializes in multi-party business, securities and First Amendment litigation in both state and federal courts throughout the US. Mr. Marino is credited with such landmark US Supreme Court cases as Keeton v. Hustler and Falwell v. Flynt.
Mr. Marino has substantial experience before the Commercial Division of the American Arbitration Association and the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD). Mr. Marino has successfully dealt with securities fraud, RICO cases, and breach of contract, trade secrets and foreclosure conversion litigation. He is a frequent lecturer for Continuing Legal Education Programs in New York at the city, county, state and federal levels. His recent publications include Admissibility of Scientific Evidence in Federal Courts After Daubert and Report on the Proposed Arbitration Fairness Act of 2007 and HR 3010, both published in 2008.
Mr. Marino is admitted to the US Supreme Court, the New York State Bar Association, the US Courts of Appeals for the First, Second and District of Columbia Circuits, and the US District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. He is a member of the New York County Lawyers’ Association and a former Chair of the NYCLA Committee on Federal Courts and Board of Directors. He is currently member of the New York Athletic Club and serves on its law committee.
Mr. Marino graduated summa cum laude from Long Island University, received his Juris Doctorate from St. John’s University School of Law and was awarded the prestigious Fulbright – Hays Fellowship. From 1971-1977 he served in the U.S. Army. He achieved the rank of Captain and served as a Green Beret with US Army 5th Special Forces Group for most of that period.
